Little Leni

I had a few newborn  sessions over the past couple  months too. I love newborn sessions. I know they do take more time, more breaks in between, but I don't mind. Sometimes I get a baby that cries the whole time, and sometimes I don't. Either way I'm happy to be capturing these first days. Now with Kelly and Jason, I was lucky to do their maternity photos as well. I love when I get to see this little person who's been inside this gorgeous belly for the last 9 months!

Little Leni was so sweet and petit. I had a great time snapping her photos. She had such big wide curious eyes that were so beautiful. I love that she was awake for the first part of our session so I was able to capture them. Kelly and Jason are big time animal lovers. I've known Kelly since we were in jr.high and I've always remembered that about her. So it was fitting to have their 'fur' babies pose alongside them.

I don't think I'll ever stop loving the way a new mom gazes at her baby. That love is so intense and unconditional and has such strength.

fall family fun

To say I had a busy fall would be an understatement. I was not looking forward to back to school. If you know me, you know i'm a sucker for summer, easy days, just going with the flow.... and we went from just that to full on busy from 6:40 am until bedtime... crazy days, and they just flew by. I took on a position working with Elections Canada for our federal election. So balancing that, kids, a full booked up fall, a corporate event and hockey, you could say I was busy. BUT it was all worth it. I had such a great fall. To mark the one year anniversary of me taking this leap in to photography was exciting. Not that I really celebrated, but to achieve that was wonderful. I think I counted that I did 33 photo sessions in my first year. I was really happy with that. I'm hoping to double that for this upcoming year, or more! I'd definitely do more! But I know this kind of a job takes time. It takes time to get my name out there. I am a big fan of social media helping me out. I always appreciate the "shout outs" through facebook after we've done a session and you post your photos.

Anyhow, fall was great. Here in Calgary we were spoiled. It usually lasts about 4 days. But this year we had a full month + of warm weather. The colors were amazing and it made booking for photos that much better. As a natural light photographer, I love doing my sessions outdoors as much as possible. I took advantage of the nice days and booked as many as I could.

I started off with a beautiful growing family. I've had the opportunity to watch their family from the beginning. And can't wait to see the newest addition come this world. We picked a nice evening early september to get some greenery in the background and had fun walking around. Miss L has gotten so big and so beautiful. Here's a few of my favourites!

busy busy busy...

wow. I can't believe how fast time is going. Its already november! I've been terribly busy and really haven't had much time for me, let alone this blog, which I apologize for. Summer flew by, I had some pretty amazingly beautiful shoots, which makes me happy. A few beautiful mama-to-be's, a couple newborns, some family sessions. All in all it was a great summer. Then came fall and wow, we actually had a fall this year which was fantastic for outdoor photos. The colors were so gorgeous and the weather held up so nicely. It's been a nice transition. Usually I feel like fall lasts for about 4 days, then snow hits, but actually today is the first snowfall!

I had a really great fall, met some wonderful families and took a lot of photos. It was great, one of the things I love the most about photography is meeting so many great people. I've really enjoyed meeting everyone, and getting to know a bit about you and your families.

Playing catch up is hard here, but I'll post a few of my favourites from sessions over the last few months! I'll do better at this blog thing, promise!!

I loved how Kelly just walked right in to the stream, I was hoping she would, but wasn't sure how to ask!
