I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Kristen & David's Calgary elopement this past September. What was originally supposed to be their wedding day, and postponed due to covid, was re planned as an elopement. These two have been together since high-school and they are such a perfect match. Our first time meeting I knew we'd get along so well as we have the same sense of humor, and had it not been for the freezing weather we had to endure outside (as indoor gatherings were restricted) we probably could have chatted for hours.
The day started at Hotel Le Germaine with Kristen and her mother. Even though they were eloping, and they are having a full wedding once life allows, we still did the traditional getting ready shots as this day was and is just as important. The bond this mother and daughter share is so beautiful, between all the laughter I loved capturing this special time for them.
Kristen and David opted for a first look - which I love. The moment the bride and groom see each other for the first time is so magical. The intimacy of a first look is so special and something that will be remembered forever.
After the emotional hello, we did their bridal portraits. It was super windy that day, with huge storm clouds and a little rain, but we just accepted it and incorporated it into our photos. We didn't have too much time, and definitely ended up being late, but their chemistry was unbelievable as they are magic together, and it was so worth it to try and maximize the little time we had.
Their ceremony was held in their backyard. A few decorations created the perfect backdrop and in front of their families (and fur babies) they exchanged the most heartfelt vows and said “I do”. Their vows were love letters filled with their devotion and promises to each other, which had everyone in tears. These two have the best time together, and just make you smile being in their presence.
Their elopement was simple, elegant & perfect. It was about the two of them becoming husband and wife. The intimacy of the entire day was so special and magical filled with all the emotions, one they will never forget. It was truly an honour to capture this day for them, and create these memories with them.
